There’s a distance of roughly 4.7 miles (7.6 kilometers) between Lahaina and Ka’anapali.

In a car or taxi, the journey is likely to take 10 minutes (unless you get stuck in the Lahaina traffic). If you fancy stretching your legs, it is possible to walk from Lahaina beach to Ka’anapali beach.

Lahaina is a tourist hub, so prices can be high. There are also limited hotel options in Lahaina town itself. Expect to find low-key guest houses rather than all-inclusive resorts.

At Ka’anapali, prices tend to be mid-range. There are some luxurious hotels to stay in, and if you’re willing to pay extra, you can have a truly spectacular room.

There’s no need to choose between Lahaina and Ka’anapali, because you can easily fit both into a Maui vacation. 

If you need a place to stay, Ka’anapali is the easier option. There are plenty of hotels and resorts, with spaces designed to accommodate a variety of travelers. Everyone from busy families to couples can find something at Ka’anapali.

Staying in Lahaina itself is difficult, because there are limited places to stay, but if you can find somewhere, you’re right at the heart of the action.

Either way, make sure to rent a car (or hop in a taxi) and take a trip between the two.
